To me what Bordo said for number 3 is Both women and men try to express themselfs in a attracting and manipulative way. It's an act to sell. Women who dont really care much about their fashion and looking good usually are the ones who people think are lesbians and unfeminine. Yet for a man to be worrying about his looks and self esteem is taken to be very unmanly or sexually confused. I agree with Bordo about women being called lesbian or unfeminine for not "acting like ladys " Also on how man who care about themselfs to much can be consider homosexual, metrosexual etc..Personally I believe tradition and cultures have a big role in what people think is feminine or masculine. In my Ad the model looks very manly and very old fashion . As if he is promoting old fashion masculinity.
Your ad is a great example of an "old fashioned masculinity" and I agree that it is tradition or traditional gender roles that ads oftn employ to persuade women and men to behave a certain, gender appropriate way. You may want to think what the is the underlying assumption about men not worrying about their looks or self-esteem? Just remember that when you are interpreting a quote, you should use your own words, rather than use synonyms to replace the words the writer used.
