Blogpost # 8 Wedding Crashers

In this movie the main character's (Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn) act very old fashioned masculinity towards each other and towards every other man. They both act very macho man in the begginning of the movie. You know typical masculine type of guy's who only want 1 thing with women and its not talking if you know what i mean. In the scene that they are playing football they are trying their best infront of the other males so they can look masculine towards the women and that is interesting because if you dont do good in a sport and your a boy the girls would probably look at them feminine. So naturally a man is suppose to be good at these things.
At the end these bro's end up falling in love with the two sisters they thought they were goin to womanize. This film is very funny because it shows how some guys really go out and try to get these girls to fall into them just so they can pleasure themselves. Just like the reading "The Girl Hunt : Urban Nightlife and performance of Masculinity as Collective Activity." these womanizers go out on a mission for only one thing. This movie is a great example of a bromance comedy. To me this movie says even if you have try to act a certainway just for others the real you or the real masculinity will come out.

  1. It is interesting that you describe the masculinity of the two male characters in The Wedding Crashers as "old fashioned", or that which requires being good at sports to impress women as well as men. Do you think we, as a society, have become more accepting of men and do not judge their masculinity on the basis of their athleticism?
Also, the idea of men proving themselves to men is great. Is this the real story of this movie, the bromance? Lastly, you mention that the "real you or the real masculinity will come out." What causes that to happen? Men meeting women? Or men's bromance with other men?
Please add a Works Cited entry for the film in the MLA format that is shown in The Little Penguin Handbook.
